![]() Monday, August 29, 2005, 6:30 a.m.: The seminary loses electricty, and Katrina's winds blow open the locked front doors, sending rain and debris into the main lobby. Here, engineer Tim Gerkin works to replace a second-floor door that was blown off its hinges. "From there, it was a non-stop battle with the storm," recount one student's notes of the day. The campus sheltered a skeleton crew of roughly 20 priests, seminarians, and staff, who were joined by an additional 20 guests or so who had some tie to the seminary community and nowhere else to weather the storm.
